Since 1889, May 1st has been a day of international workers solidarity held in commemoration of the event of 1886, led by anarchists.
During an 800,000 strong strike by workers in demand of an 8 hour.day, eight anarchists were falsely arrested for planting a bomb during the rally in Chicago. Four were later hung. In 1893, the rest were released and the charges denounced as a farce by the US government.
