    “We did not think of the great open plains, the beautiful rolling hills, and winding streams with tangled growth, as “wild”. Only to the white man was nature a “wilderness” infested with “wild” animals and “savage” people. To us it was tame. Earth was bountiful and we were surrounded with the blessings of the Great Mystery.”

    In each issue of Akwesasne Notes, there is a centerfold poster. The entire series is available as separate posters. They measure 17 × 22 inches and are printed in various colors. This poster combines a photograph, “Bear Belly-Arickara” by Cartlin with a quote from Luther Standing Bear.

    “Those things which were most attacked, even if they remain intact, were precisely those things which sustain and maintain capitalist relations… When banks and store windows were stoned it wasn’t merely a question of smashing glass crystals but of also smashing the meaning which these places take on as exhibition centres for the circulation of those products.     Un ejemplo más : una compañera despidida en Todogar por negarse a hacer horas extras, es ahora perseguida por la Justicia por haber defendido sus derechos. El fiscal, en otro gesto de cinismo y persecución sindical, le reclama más de un millón de pesetas y arresto domiciliario por “daños y perjuicios”. ¿Suma y sigue ?

    Αποζητούν να υποτάξουν κάθε πλευρά της ανθρώπινης ζωής κάτω απ’ τον ασφυκτικό έλεγχό τους, πλέκοντας έναν ολοένα πυκνότερο ιστό επιτήρησης γύρω απ’ ολόκληρο τον πλανήτη, φιλοδοξώντας να καταγράψουν κάθε κίνηση που θα θεωρούν ύποπτη, κάθε λέξη που δεν θα υπακούει στην γραμματική της δουλικότητας.

    Πασχίζουν να διεισδύσουν ως τα μύχια των γονιδίων ελπίζοντας ν’ ανακαλύψουν τις ρίζες της έμμονης επιθυμίας για ελευθερία.

    Ετοιμάζουν καινούριες στημένες δίκες, μετατρέπουν τις πόλεις σε απαγορευμένες ζώνες επιτηρούμενες από τους πάνοπλους φρουρούς τους, στέλνουν σύγχρονα Τάγματα Ασφαλείας (ΕΙΔΑΣΥΔΕ-Φρουροί Υπαίθρου) να τρομοκρατήσουν την ύπαιθρο.
    Οσοι συνεχίσουν να σιωπούν, προσυπογράφουν την οριστική απώλεια της φωνής τους.

    Αιγη ωρα πριν απο την εκρηξη

    Βλέπω τά πλήθη πού άδικούνται καί πεινούν νά κιμούν στό στρωμένο τραπέζι όπου οί άφεντάδες κάθουνται ναρκωμένοι άπό τό βαρύ φαγοπότι. Η χίμαιρα φλογίζει τά πρόσωπα πού κάνουν έφοδο' οί αάλοι, έκείνοι πού κάθουνται, γρικούν ξάφνού τή βουή καί στρέφουνται' στήν άρχή γελούν, ύστερα χλωμιάζούν, σκύβουν άνήσνχοι κάτω καί διακρίνουν - οί δούλοι τούς κι οί δούλες, οί κολίγοι, οί έργάτες, οί ξυπόλυτοι άνεβαίνουν.Ιερή στιγμή ! Οί μεγαλύτεροι άίθλοι στή σκέιμη, στήν τέχνη καί στήν πράξη γεννήθηκαν στ’ όρμητικό έτούτο άνηφόρισμα τού άνθρώπο.

    Συντάζουνται οί άφεντάδες ν’ άντισταθούν, άντιστέκουνται μά όλη ή φόρα τού καιρού μας είναι ένάντιά τούς - έφαγαν, ήπιαν, δημιούργησαν έναν πολιτισμό, ξεθύμαναν, έφτασε ή στερνή μορφή τού χρέους τους : νά έξαφανιστούν...

    Αύτός είναι ό νόμος, έτσι μονάχα ή ζωή μπορεί ν’ άνανεωΘεί καί νά προχωρήσει.

    Ποιό ’ναι λοιπόν τό χρέος μας ; Καλά να ξεχωρίσούμε τήν ίστορική στιγμή πού ζούμε καί νά τοποθετήσούμε συνειδητά, σέ όρισμένο στρατόπεδο τή μικρή μας ένέργεια ...
